Tim is 35!

Tim's birthday is today. He's 35. And just completed his first Ironman race back in June. On Father's Day to be exact. It was fitting that his dad went with him to the race.

First, I am amazed that he was dedicated enough to train for this thing. And second, that he was able to complete it in just over 12 hours. With a 12-week old daughter at home no less. In case you don't know, the race has 3 legs: swim for 2.4 miles, bike for 112 miles, and run for 26.2 miles. Let's hope Grace gets her dad's endurance. Workouts for me are an hour max. I don't even think I could sleep for 12 hours straight. Much less swim, bike, and run.

He competed in the Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene.

Grace, my mom, the dogs and I were all watching on the computer when he crossed the finish line. We were all extremely proud of him for this accomplishment.

Here he is a day or so before the race. If only we all looked this good in black rubber.

The day of the race. They put your age (technically the age you will be this year) on your calf. I thought this was fitting given his birthday was today (if you have perfect vision, you might be able to see the 35 on his left calf)!

Here's the start.

About 1/2 of them are in the water.

And now all of them are in the water. I can't imagine trying to swim with this many people around. This really reminds me of schools of shad, jumping and flipping around when something is after them. Notice the smart shad have stayed close to shore!

And finally with his dad.
