2006 Jul - Dec

Work, work, work…it always seems to get in the way! Now where were we…

I did forget to mention that we had other visitors to Seattle during the spring and summer. Although I don’t have any pictures to share with you. My folks, Sharon and Bill, visited us. Tim’s mom, Kay, and her husband John also spent some time with us. And our Texas friends Nancy and Travis also ventured north. If I run across any pictures, I will share them later.

July was a wonderful time to be in Seattle. The days were long with lots of sunshine and the nights were cool. If you decide to visit the Pacific Northwest, I highly recommend July and August for travel dates.

Tim entered the Seattle to Portland bike ride. He rode 203 miles in one day. I had to take him to the drop-off point at 4:30 am. Yes, I did actually get out of bed and drive him over there. Cinco and I met him at the finish line in Portland much later that afternoon. He did a great job. I have some pictures of him during the race, but he won’t let me share those. You’ll have to see those hanging on our refrigerator when you visit. Here he is with Cinco on our way back to Seattle.

Also in July, we made the decision to move back to Texas. I was a bit home sick. Also, Tim’s travel schedule was crazy and he was taking several redeye flights to get to Florida to his corporate office. We hoped to sell our home before the move and made arrangements to place it on the market in late July. We had a showing and had to leave fairly quickly. We headed to a local park. This is about as close as Cinco wanted to get to the water. He is definitely NOT a “water dog.”

In August, we received the news that we were going to have a new baby in the family. Tim’s brother John and his wife Annie were expecting a baby in January 2007. This picture is how they let the news out to some friends and family. Cute!

Remember that Tim was working from home. Every once in a while he would need a little break. That usually resulted in pictures of Cinco. Here are a couple of shots of Cinco in his favorite place, the landing halfway up the stairs. He would watch all the activity, inside and outside, from there.

September found us exploring a bit. We went to Whistler, British Columbia. Tim wanted to ride at the mountain bike park and I wanted to see the scenery. It was beautiful. It’s really a ski destination and I can only imagine it with lots of snow. Maybe someday we’ll make it there during the winter. On our way there we stopped to take a few pictures. Here we are at Porteau Cove on Howe Sound.

This is a shot of the mountain bike park. They modify the ski lift so that it carries riders and their bikes up the hill.

Tim survived with only a few bumps and bruises. But he had a huge smile! So he must have had fun. Here he is with Cinco.

We also decided to actually get a picture of us with the Space Needle. I wanted to ride to the top, but it was a bit expensive. I made Tim go with me to the Science Fiction museum instead. Don’t you know he just loved that!

In October, we sold the house and headed south. It took us about three days to make the journey. Tim’s dad, Danny, joined us for the adventure. We passed two “interesting” road signs. The first stated “you are at the 45th parallel.” That means you are exactly halfway between the North Pole and the equator. The second identified the continental divide. I thought the continental divide would be some wondrous view along some high ridge somewhere. Nope, where we were – it was just a road sign. Oh well. Wonder if Lewis and Clark knew when they reached the continental divide…they didn’t have the handy road signs we have now. I don’t have any pictures of the signs. Stopping on the side of the road wasn’t exactly part of the schedule.

Our first weekend home, we attended the wedding of Tim’s cousin Courtney in San Angelo. Here we are all cleaned-up.

As we were getting settled into our apartment, I stopped to play a bit with Cinco. Tim captured the moment. Yes, that’s me.

We made the trip to Tennessee for Thanksgiving to see my family. It was good to see everyone. Tim’s still refers to the trip as the “great conspiracy.” It had been a year since Morgan left us and I was ready for another Chow Chow. Mom had been watching the paper to see if there were any breeders in the area. There were, but nobody had any puppies at this time. Since I was there, I wanted to at least meet the breeders and see how they raised the puppies. And, if possible, see the doggie mom and dad. While Tim and my dad were attending the Tennessee vs. Kentucky football game, mom and I met with one of the breeders. As chance would have it, they did have one puppy. It was originally supposed to be her daughter’s. But that didn’t work out. The puppy had a great personality and seemed to be a good girl. Tim didn’t have a chance. So, we ended up driving back to Texas with a new family addition, Mia. Here she is getting her first bath.

Here she is with her brother.

Even Tim will admit she ended-up being a great addition to our family. (Note from Tim: Mia is a great addition but it was still a conspiracy)

Christmas found us in San Antonio with Kay and John, Tim’s mom and her husband. It was kind of comical. There were a total of 6.5 adults (Annie was pregnant), 5 dogs, and 1 very elusive cat all under one roof. I think John got a picture of all the dogs lined-up, but I don’t have a copy of it. Here we are under the tree.

I am slowly getting to the present day…
