Grace's First Visit to the Beach

Last July Grace visited the beach for the first time.  She wasn't too sure about it at first, then decided building sandcastles was fun after all.  The water...  not so much.  I think that will come in time.  But she did like the tide pools.

She would play, eat, play some more, eat some more, and so on until she could no longer keep her eyes open.

This one was taken as soon as we arrived.  She just couldn't resist putting her hands in the sand.

The next day, she loved seeing the waves.  She just looks so small compared to the waves!  But that was one of her favorite tide pools to play in.

Tim found some toys in the storage area under the house.  He decided to give the boogie board a ride.  I think he had a good time...  It looks like I photoshopped him into the wave.  But that's him in the surf!

I have been going to this particular beach since I was young.  So that's a long long time.  In all of my visits, I had never seen these little guys...  Fiddler crabs.  They are maybe an inch or two in size.  And they stayed in this little protected inlet.  Tons of them.  It was really cool to see them.

We eventually had to leave the beach.  Sad but true.  Although Grace's water fun did not end with our departure.  There's a really neat little splash park near Mema and Poppy's house.  Here she is enjoying a visit to it.

Once the water fun is done, it's swing time.  I would love to know what she was thinking about...
