What can I say? Nothing ever goes as planned.
I had planned two activities for the kiddos. An Easter egg hunt and pony rides. The day before the party, there were many Easter elves helping color eggs. And I must say, they turned out pretty well. They have come a long way since my day when all you got were the color tablets and a metal thing to hold the egg for dipping. We had tie-dye eggs, painted eggs, glitter painted eggs, ... And out of all of the choices, the traditional kit was the easiest and delivered the deepest colors. Isn't that always the way.
Here are some of the elves busy at work.

So the day arrives and Grace is in a great mood. Ready for her big day. The pony is supposed to arrive at 2pm. Well...about 2:15, Tim gets a call. They are having trailer issues. AND are still north of Dallas. For those of you that don't know, that means they are easily 1 - 1.5 hours away from our house. Translation...the pony isn't going to make it. Have you ever seen the movie Parenthood? If not, you need to. There's a scene in that movie where the birthday entertainment doesn't show up. So Steve Martin has to dress-up like a cowboy and entertain the kids. It's hilarious. When Tim got the pony call, he immediately thought of that scene. He was worried I would make him run around the backyard with the kids on his back. At least Grace was turning 1. She didn't know there was supposed to be a pony. Now if this happens in a few years, we are screwed.
Here's the birthday girl with her extremely proud parents.

We are so lucky to have her.
What a great picture! She's beautiful! We were in the middle of a move, so we never did have a big 1st birthday party for Jac...thankfully he won't remember :-)
